The first image is a 300 DPI scan of Gray Scale and Color Control Patches from the Kodak Color Dataguide CAT# 156 9136. I reduced this image form the original 10+Megabyte size to 2,112KB with Photoshop Elements 2.0. Current size is 640 X 1121 pixels print resolution is 300 dpi.
This is very old DataGuide, I bought this book sometime in the late 1970's. Original size is 5" X 8.5".

There is a stain on the top third of the 0.1 density gray
patch. That is not the fault of the scan. The patch was coming unglued and the
glue I used stained the patch.
To my eyes, this is as near to perfect as a scan can be. There is almost no
change in density between the 2.2 and the 1.9 patch in the actual chart. If you
look hard with a strong light you can see a difference.
The next Image is of a Macbeth ColorChecker. Scanned at 100 DPI then resized to 106.25 DPI to make a 8" X 10.908" image.

Macbeth ColorChecker
This scan looks a little dark which you can see in the white
patch, but the black patch is not completely black.
The ColorChecker is cropped because the scanner bed in only
8.5" X 11.7" and the actual Macbeth ColorChecker is 13" X
9.25". The actual Macbeth ColorChecker is sized to fit a 35mm film frame.
It has a 1:1.5 aspect ratio. The new Macbeth Colorcheckers are now 8.5" by
11" and sell for around $67.
